Acetophenone reacts with perbenzoic acid to produce compound phenylacetate,
$Ph -O-\underset{\overset{||}{O}}{C}-CH_3$ This reaction is known as Baeyer Villiger oxidation, where a ketone group gets converted an ester in presence of a peroxide group.
Reaction of $X$ with excess of $CH_{3}$ MgBr followed by treatment with aqueous acid predominantly produces tert-butyl alcohol.
