Q. A weight $W$ is supported by two strings inclined at $60^{\circ}$ and $30^{\circ}$ to the vertical. The tensions in the strings are $T_{1}$ and $T_{2}$ as shown. If these tensions are to be determined in terms of $W$ using a triangle of forces, which of these triangles should you draw? (block is in equilibrium)

Solution:

$\overrightarrow{AB}=\overrightarrow{W} \cdot\overrightarrow{BC}=\vec{T_{1}}\cdot\overrightarrow{CA}=\overrightarrow{T}_{2} $
$\overrightarrow{AB}+\overrightarrow{BC}+\overrightarrow{CA}=0$ (as the block is at rest)
