Q. A wave of wavelength $2\, m$ is reflected from a surface if a node is formed at $3\, m$ from the surface, then at what distance from the surface another node will be formed?

Waves

Solution:

Distance between two consecutive node is $\frac{\lambda}{2}$
$\therefore \frac{\lambda}{2}=\frac{2}{2} m =1\, m$
So, the distance of another node from the surface will be
$3+\frac{\lambda}{2}=3+1=4\, m$
