Q. A voltmeter of resistance 2000 $ \Omega $ , 0.5 V/div is to be converted into a voltmeter to make it to read2V/div. The value of high resistance to be connected in series with it is

Solution:

Here, $ V=\text{ }2V/div,\text{ }{{V}_{g}}=\text{ 0}.5V/div,\text{ }G=2000\text{ }\Omega $ Using the relation $ V=n{{V}_{g}} $ $ \Rightarrow $ $ 2=n\times 0.5 $ $ \Rightarrow $ $ n=4 $ Now, the high resistance is to be connected in series. It is given by R = G (n -1) = 2000 (4 -1) $ =6000\,\Omega $
