$\tau=I \alpha$
$\frac{m g l}{2}=\frac{m l^{2}}{3} \alpha$
$\alpha=\frac{3 g}{2 l}$ and $a=\alpha r$
$=\frac{l}{2} \cdot \frac{3 g}{2 l}=\frac{3 g}{4}$
