Q.
A triode valve has an amplification factor of $20$ and its plate is given a potential of $300\, V$. What should be the grid voltage to reduce the platecurrent to zero?

Solution:
To reduce the plate current to zero
$V_{P}$ should be reduced to zero.
Hence for $I_{P}=0$.
$\Delta \,V_{p} =0-300 $
$=-300\, V$
We know that amplification factor,
$\mu=\left(\frac{\Delta V_{P}}{\Delta V_{G}}\right)_{\Delta /_{P} \text { Coonstant }}$
$\therefore \Delta V_{G}=\frac{\Delta V_{P}}{\mu}$
$=-\frac{300}{20}$
$=-15$
$\therefore $ Required Grid voltage is $-15\, V$
