Q. A stone is dropped from the window of a bus moving at $80\, km/h$. If the window is $150$ cm high, find the distance along the track which the stone moves before striking the ground.

Solution:

As we know the relation,
$u =80 \times \frac{5}{18}=22.22 m / s$
$R = u \sqrt{\frac{2 h }{ g }}$
$h=150 \times 10^{-2}=1.5 m$
$R =22.22 \times \sqrt{\frac{2 \times 1.5}{10}}$
$=22.22 \sqrt{\frac{3}{10}}$
$=22.22 \times 0.54$
$=11.99 \approx 12$
