Q. A solution of $FeCl_{3}$ in water acts as acidic solution due to

AMUAMU 2004

Solution:

$FeCl _{3}$ on hydrolysis gives acidic solution due to the presence of strong acid and weak base in the solution.
$FeCl _{3}+3 H _{2} O \longrightarrow \underset{\text{weak base}}{Fe(OH)_3} + \underset{\text{strong acid}}{3HCl}$
Hence, solution is acidic in nature.
