Solution:

Dinoflagellates are unicellular protists, also known as marine planktons which make the sea appear like red tides due to its rapid multiplication. They have characteristics of both plants and animals and are organisms bearing two dissimilar flagella, one lying longitudinally and other transversely. They are considered to be algae but show a presence of well- defined nucleus which makes its placement controversial.
