Q. A simple pendulum is taken from the equator to the pole. lts period

KEAMKEAM 2005Oscillations

Solution:

Time period of pendulum is given by $ \, \, \, \, \, \, \, \, T=2\pi \sqrt{\frac{l}{g}} \, or \, T \propto \frac{1}{\sqrt g}$
If simple pendulum is taken from the equator to the pole, acceleration due to gravity increases.
Hence, time period of penduium decreases.
