Q. A sample of $10 \, gm$ of steam at $100^{o}C$ with $6gm$ ice at $0^{o}C$ is kept inside a calorimeter initially. Find the amount of steam in $gm$ left?
$\left(L_{Fusion} = 80 \, cal / gm , \, L_{Vapori z ation} = 540 \, cal / gm , \, Specific \, heat \, capacity = 1 \, cal / \left(gm\right)^{o} C\right)$

Solution:

$\underset{f u s i o n}{\underbrace{6 \times 80}}+ \, \underset{r a i s e \, t e m p}{\underbrace{6 \times 1 \times \left(100 - 0\right)}}= \, \underset{c o n d ens a t i o n}{\underbrace{x \times 540}}$
$\therefore \, x=2 \, gm \, \, \, \Rightarrow \, \, \, left \, steam=8gm$
