Since, the salt on treatment with dil. $HCl$ gives a pungent smelling gas $ (SO_{2}) $ and a yellow ppt., it must contain $ S_{2}O_{3}^{2-} $ (thiosulphate ion) and further since it gives green flame test, it must contain $ Ba^{2+} $ ion. Therefore, salt is $ BaS_{2}O_{3} $ .
