Solution:

Since the salt on treatment with dil. $HCl$ gives a pungent smelling gas and a yellow ppt, it contains $S_2O^{2−}_3$ ion.
$S_2O_3^{2-} + 2HCl \to \underset{\text{yellow ppt.}}{S \downarrow} + \underset{\text{Pungent smelling gas}}{SO_2\downarrow} + H_2O + 2Cl^-$
As it gives green colour to flame, hence contains $Ba^{2+}$ ion.
$\therefore $ The salt is $BaS_2O_3$.
$BaS_2O_3 + K_2CrO_4 \to \underset{\text{yellow ppt.}}{BaCrO_4} + K_2S_2O_3$
