Q.
A raft of wood (density 600 $ kg\text{/}{{m}^{3}} $ ) of mass 120 kg floats in water. How much weight can be put on the raft to make it just sink?

Solution:
Volume of raft of wood $ =\frac{120}{600} $ $ =0.2\,{{m}^{3}} $ Weight of water displaced $ =0.2\times {{10}^{3}}\times g $ $ =200\,kg\,wt $ Mass of water displaced = 200 kg Hence, additional mass which can be added = 200 -120 = 80 kg
