Q. A proton moving with $25\%$ of the velocity of light is having a mass of $1.6\times 10^{- 24}g$ . What is the de Broglie wavelength associated with the proton?

NTA AbhyasNTA Abhyas 2020

Solution:

$m=1.6\times 10^{- 24}g$
$v=3\times 10^{10}cmsec^{- 1}\times \frac{25}{100}$
$=0.75\times 10^{10}cmsec^{- 1}$
The de Broglie wavelength associ-
ated with the proton is
$=\frac{6 . 626 \times 10^{- 27} ergsec}{1 . 6 \times 10^{- 24} \times 0 . 75 \times 10^{10}}$
$=5.52\times 10^{- 13}cm$
