Q. A positive point charge $Q$ is brought near an isolated uncharged metal cube

NTA AbhyasNTA Abhyas 2022

Solution:

When a positive point charge is brought near an isolated uncharged metal cube, the side of cube near the point charge will be negatively charged due to the force of attraction of unlike charges. Due to this, the opposite side of the cube will be positively charged due to the force of repulsion between like charges.
But as there is no transfer of charges from cube, the total charge on the cube will remain conserved and the cube will remain neutral.
