Solution:

Refractive index $(\mu)=\frac{\text { real depth }}{\text { apparent depth }}$
$\Rightarrow \mu \alpha \frac{1}{\text { apparent depth }}$
Since, violet light is refracted the maximum and red light are least, the refractive index is maximum for violet colour and minimum for red colour.
Hence, letter which appears minimum raised are red.
