Q. A particle is performing simple harmonic motion with angular frequency $5000 \,radian/second$ and amplitude $2\,cm$ and mass of $1\,kg$. Find the total energy of oscillation.

AIIMSAIIMS 2018Oscillations

Solution:

Total energy in SHM,
$E = \frac{1}{2} m \omega^{2} A^{2} $
$ = \frac{1}{2} \times1 \times25 \times10^{6} \times4 \times10^{-4} $
$ = 50 \times10^{2} = 5 kJ $
