Q. A paramagnetic material shows a net magnetization of $\text{8 A m}^{\text{-1}}$ when placed in an external magnetic field of intensity $\text{0} \text{.6 T}$ at a temperature of $\text{4} \, \text{K}$ . When the same material is placed in an external magnetic field of intensity $\text{0} \text{.2 T}$ at a temperature of $\text{16 K}$ , the magnetization will be

Solution:

According to Curie's law,
Magnetization, $I \propto \frac{Magnetic Induction \left(\right. B \left.\right)}{A b s o l u t e t e m p e r a t u r e \left(\right. T \left.\right)}$
$\Rightarrow \frac{I_{2}}{I_{1}}=\frac{B_{2} T_{1}}{B_{1} T_{2}}$
$\Rightarrow \frac{I_{2}}{8}=\frac{0 . 2 \times 4}{0 . 6 \times 16}$
$\Rightarrow I_{2}=\frac{2}{3}Am^{- 1}$
