Q. A number of bivalents are 8 in prophase I. What will be the number of chromosomes during anaphase II?

NTA AbhyasNTA Abhyas 2022

Solution:

At prophase I the number of bivalents is 8, i.e., 2n = 16. Thus, after meiosis I, the daughter cell would have 16/2 = 8 chromosomes. Therefore, the number of the chromosome at anaphase II will be 8.
