Q. A mixture of $n_{1}$ moles of monoatomic gas and $n_{2}$ moles of diatomic gas has $\gamma =1.5$ . Than :-

NTA AbhyasNTA Abhyas 2020

Solution:

$\gamma =\frac{n_{1} C p_{2} + n_{2} C p_{2}}{n_{1} C v_{1} + n_{2} C v_{2}}$
$\Rightarrow 1.5=\frac{n_{1} \frac{5}{2} R + n_{2} \frac{7}{2} R}{n_{1} \frac{3 R}{2} + n_{2} \frac{5 R}{2}}$
$\Rightarrow 1.5=\frac{5 n_{1} + 7 n_{2}}{3 n_{1} + 5 n_{2}}=\frac{3}{2}$
$\Rightarrow 10n_{1}+14n_{2}=9n_{1}+15n_{2}$
$n_{1}=n_{2}$
