Ratio, Proportion and Variation

Solution:

Let the cost price of articles A and B be $a$ and $b$, respectively.
Given, $1.4 a+0.7 b=1050$(1)
$0.8 a+1.15 b=1050$(2)
$0.8 \times \text { Eq. (1) }-1.4 \times \text { Eq. (2) }$
$1.12 a+0.56 b =840 $
$1.12 a+1.61 b =1470$
$1.05 b =630 $
$b =630 / 1.05=600$
