Q. A lamp is connected is series with a capacitor and an $ AC $ source, what happens if the capacity of the capacitor is reduced ?

MHT CETMHT CET 2012

Solution:

The lamp shines less brightly because, when capacity of the capaictor is reduced, the capacitive reactance $\left(X_{C}=\frac{1}{\omega C}\right)$ increases and hence, the current through the lamp decreases
