Q. A hollow sphere of radius $0.1\, m$ has a charge of $5 \times 10^{-8} C .$ The potential at a distance of $5\, cm$ from the center of the sphere is

J & K CETJ & K CET 2013Electrostatic Potential and Capacitance

Solution:

Potential $V=\frac{Q}{4 \pi \varepsilon_{0} r}$
Given, $Q=5 \times 10^{-8} C, \frac{1}{4 \pi \varepsilon_{0}}$
$=9 \times 10^{9}, R=0.1\, m$
$V=\frac{5 \times 10^{-8} \times 9 \times 10^{9}}{0.1}$
$=\frac{450}{0.1}=4500\, V$
