Q. A highly volatile carbon compound $(C_2H_7N)$ which give carbyl amine reaction and is soluble in hydrochloric acid and the solution on treatment with sodium nitrile and $HCl$ gives off nitrogen leaving behind a solution which has an alcoholic smell. The compound is

The given compound is a $1^{\circ}$ amine as it gives a positive carbylamine test. Thus it is ethylamine or $C_{2}H_{5}NH_{2}$
