Q. A dorsiventral leaf, when cut into section, its vascular bundles reveal presence of pholem on

UP CPMTUP CPMT 2011

Solution:

Abaxial side refers to the lower side of leaf. In dorsiventral leaves, vascular bundles are found scattered in spongy parenchyma and the vascular bundles in the midrib region are largest. Vascular bundles are conjoint, collateral, and closed. Each vascular bundle is surrounded by a bundle sheath of parenchymatous cells. In the vascular bundle, xylem is present towards upper epidermis and phloem towards lower epidermis or abaxial side.
