Q. A cylindrical vessel of $90 \, cm$ height is filled upto the brim. It has four holes $1$ , $2$ , $3$ , $4$ which are, respectively, at heights of $20 \, cm, \, 30 \, cm, \, 45 \, cm$ and $80 \, cm$ from the horizontal floor $PQ$ . The water falling at the maximum horizontal distance from the vessel comes from

Solution:

The maximum horizontal distance from the vessel comes from hole number $ \, 3$
$v=\sqrt{2 g h} \, \rightarrow \, h$ is height of hole from top
horizontal distance $x=vt=\sqrt{2 g h} \, \sqrt{\frac{2 \left(H - h\right)}{g}}$
$x=2 \, \sqrt{h \left(H - h\right)}$
