Q. A convex lens of focal length 1 m and a concave lens of focal length 0.25 m are kept 0.75 m apart. A parallel beam of light first passes through the convex lens, then through the concave lens and comes to a focus 0.5 m away from the concave lens.

IIT JEEIIT JEE 1983

Solution:

At $I_1$, second focus of convex lens coincides with first focus
of concave lens. Hence, rays will become parallel to the optic
axis after refraction from both the lenses.
