It shows annelidan characters like presence of trochophore larva, eggs divide by spiral cheavage as in polychaetes, presence of $5-6$ pairs of cenidia, $6$ pairs of nephridia, $8$ pairs of retracter muscles and two pairs of auricles. On the other hand, molluscan characters of Neopilina are presence of shell and mantle. presence of a flat muscular foot as found in chiton and presence of soft and dorsoventrally flattened body.
