Q. A conductor with a cavity is charged positively and its surface charge density of$\sigma$ . If E and $V$ represent the electric field and potential, then inside the cavity

KEAMKEAM 2016

Solution:

Surface charge density $=\sigma$
Inside the surface, the electric field is zero.
$\Rightarrow E_{\text {inside }}=0$
$\because V_{\text {inside }}=V_{\text {surface }}$
The potential inside the surface of charged sphere is constant
$\therefore E=0, V=$ constant
