Solution:

$m=5=-\frac{v}{u}\Rightarrow v=-5u$
$f=-0.4 \, m$
From mirror formula,
$\frac{1}{v}+\frac{1}{u}=\frac{1}{f}$
$\frac{1}{- 5 u}+\frac{1}{u}=\frac{1}{- 0 .4}$
$\frac{- 1 + 5}{5 u}=\frac{1}{- 0 .4}$
$u=\frac{4}{5}\left(- 0 .4\right)=-0.32 \, m$
So, distance of object from mirror $=0.32 \, m$
