Q. A cold drink bottle contains $200 \,ml$. liquid, in which $CO_2$ is $0.1$ molar. Considering $CO_2$ as an ideal gas the volume of the dissolved $CO_2$ at $S.T.P$ is

MHT CETMHT CET 2019

Solution:

Given,

Molarity $=0.1 M$

Volume $=200 mL$

$\because$ Molarity $=\frac{\text {number of moles of solute}}{\text {volume of solution}(mL)} \times 1000$

$\therefore $ Number of moles $=\frac{0.1 \times 200}{1000}=0.02$

Now,

1 mole of dissolved $CO _{2}$, Occupies $=22.4$ L volume at STP.

$\therefore 0.02$ moles of dissolved $CO _{2}$ occupies

$=22.4 \times 0.02=0.448 L$ Volume at $STP$.
