Q. A circular track of radius 300 m is banked at an angle of $15^{\circ} .$ If the coefficient of friction between the wheels of a race car and the road is 0.2 , what is the optimum speed of the race car to avoid wear and tear on its tyres? (tan $\left.15^{\circ}=0.268\right)$

System of Particles and Rotational Motion

Solution:

$ v_{0}=(R g \tan \theta)^{\frac{1}{2}}=(300 \times 9.8 \times 0.268)^{\frac{1}{2}}$
$=28.1 \,ms ^{-1}$
