Solution:

$I = \frac{MR^{2}}{2} + 2\left(\frac{MR^{2}}{4} + MR^{2}\right) $
$ = \frac{MR^{2}}{2} + \frac{MR^{2}}{2} + 2 MR^{2} $
$ = 3\, MR^{2} $
