Solution:

$V=E-ir=E\frac{R + r - r}{R + r}$
$\Rightarrow V=\frac{E R}{R + r}$
$\Rightarrow \text{ V} = 0 $ at $\text{R} = 0$
and $V=E$ at $R=\infty $
