Q. A car travelling at a speed of $30 \,km/hr$ is brought to a halt is $8\, m$ by applying brakes. If the same car is travelling at $60\, km/hr $ it can be brought to a halt with the same braking force in:

Solution:

$\frac{ S _{1}}{ S _{2}}=\frac{ V _{1}^{2}}{ V _{2}^{2}}$ stopping distance
$\left(\frac{8}{ S _{2}}\right)=\left(\frac{30}{60}\right)^{2}$
$S _{2}=32\, m$
