Q. A car starts from rest and accelerates uniformly to a speed of $18\, km\, h^{-1}$ in $10$. The distance covered by the car in the time interval is

Solution:

$u=0,\, v=180\, km / h =50\, m / s$
Time taken, $t =10\, s$
$a=\frac{v-u}{t}=\frac{50}{10}=5\, ms ^{-2}$
Distance covered $s=u t+\frac{1}{2} a t^{2}$
$=0+\frac{1}{2} \times 5 \times(10)^{2}$
$=\frac{500}{2}$
$\Rightarrow =250\, m$
