As, $ \Delta x =\frac{1}{2} g t^{2}-\frac{1}{2} g(t-1)^{2}$
$=\frac{1}{2} g\left[-(t-1)^{2}\right]=\frac{1}{2} g(2 t-1) $
$=\frac{1}{2} \times 9.8 \times 5 \,m =24.5 \,m $
