Q. A body of mass $10\, kg$ is acted upon by two forces each of magnitude $10\, N$ making an angle of $60^{\circ}$ with each other. Find the net acceleration of the body.

Solution:

$F_{\text {net }}=\sqrt{F_{1}^{2}+F_{2}^{2}+2 F_{1} F_{2} \cos \theta}$
$=\sqrt{(10)^{2}+(10)^{2}+2 \times 10 \times 10 \times \cos 60^{\circ}}$
$=\sqrt{100+100+100}=10 \sqrt{3}$
Mass of the body $=10 kg$
$\therefore $ Acceleration $=\frac{\text { force }}{\text { mass }}$
$=\frac{10 \sqrt{3}}{10}=\sqrt{3} m / s ^{2}$
