Q. A body constrained to move in the $y$ direction is subjected to a force given by $\overset{ \rightarrow }{F}=\left(\right.-2\hat{i}+15\hat{j}+6\hat{k}\left.\right)N$ . What is the work done by this force in moving the body through a distance $10m$ along the $y$ axis?

Solution:

Work done along the $y$ -axis is due to force along $y$ -axis which will cause displacement along the $y$ -axis.
Therefore, $F=15 \, N$ and displacement is $10m$ along $y$ -axis.
$\Rightarrow W=15\times 10=150J$
