Q. A block of ice is floating in a liquid of specific gravity $1.2$ contained in a beaker. When the ice melts completely, the level of liquid in the vessel

Mechanical Properties of Fluids

Solution:

Density of ice is less than water and density of liquid is more than water. So even when ice melts the level will rise. If $\rho_{\text {liquid }} > \rho_{\text {water }}$ then level (liquid + water) will rise.
