Q. A ball is dropped from a bridge that is $45\, m$ above the water. It falls directly into a boat which is moving with constant velocity. The boat is $12 \,m$ away from the point of impact when the ball is dropped. The speed of the boat is (Take $g =10\, m / s^ 2$ )

Solution:

In given situation.
image
Time taken by ball to cover $45\, m $
$=$ Time taken by boat to cover $12\, m$
$\Rightarrow \sqrt{\frac{2 h}{g}}=\frac{\text { Distance }(x)}{\text { Speed }(v)}$
$ \Rightarrow \sqrt{\frac{2 \times 45}{10}}=\frac{12}{s}$
$\Rightarrow v=4 \,m / s$
