Q. $A$ and $B$ are two points on the axis and the perpendicular bisector respectively of an electric dipole. $A$ and $B$ are far away from the dipole and at equal distances from it. The potentials at $A$ and $B$ are $V_{A}$ and $V_{B}$ respectively. Then,

Electrostatic Potential and Capacitance

Solution:

The potential at $A$ and $B$ are $V _{ A }$ and $V _{ B }$ respectively.
If $A$ and $B$ are two points on the axis and the perpendicular bisector respectively of an electric dipole
then $V _{ A } \neq 0 , V _{ B }= 0$
because, for the perpendicularity $\cos\, \theta$ will be $0 .$
