The 70S ribosomes are comparatively smaller in size and have sedimentation coefficient of 70S and the molecular weight 2.7 $\times$ 106 Dalton. They have two subunits 50S and 30S. The cytoplasmic ribosomes of prokaryotes (blue green algae, bacteria and PPLO) are 70S. Ribosomes of mitochondria is also 70S type.
