Q.
$600\, mL$ of ozonised oxygen at STP were found to weigh one gram. What is the volume of ozone in the ozonised oxygen?
Some Basic Concepts of Chemistry
Solution:
Let the volume of $O _3=x \,mL$
Volume of $O _2$ present $=(600-x) mL$
$22400\, mL ^2$ of $O _3$ and $O _2$ at STP will weight $48 \,g$ and $32 \,g$ respectively
The weight of $x mL ^2$ of $O _3=\frac{x \times 48}{22400} g$
The weight of $(600-x) mL$ of $O _2=\frac{(600-x)}{22400} \times 32$
Total weight of ozonised $O _2(600 mL )$
$=\frac{48 x}{22400}+\frac{(600-x) \times 32}{22400}=1.0$
$\therefore x=200\, mL$
