Q. $400 \,cm^{3}$ of oxygen at $27^{\circ}C$ were cooled to -$3^{\circ}C$ without change in pressure. The contraction in volume will be

States of Matter

Solution:

$V_{2}=\frac{T_{2}}{T_{1}} $
$\Rightarrow V_{2}=\frac{270\,K}{300\,K}.400\,cm^{3}=360\,cm^{3}$
Contraction $V_{1}-V_{2}=400-360=40\,cm^{3}$
