Q. $4.76,4.19,0.23$ and $3.41$ are the $pK_{a}$ values of four carboxylic acids respectively. What is the $pK_{a}$ value of strongest carboxylic acid among them?

NTA AbhyasNTA Abhyas 2020

Solution:

A stronger acid will have higher $K_{a}$ value but smaller $pK_{a}$ value while a weaker acid will have smaller $K_{a}$ value but higher $pK_{a}$ value. Hence among the given carboxylic acid the $K_{a}$ value of strongest acid is 0.23.
