Q. 3'AAA TGC GCG ATA 5' is the sequence of nucleotides on a gene; after transcription the mRNA formed against it and the sequence of bases in the corresponding binding anticodon will be :

KCETKCET 2012Molecular Basis of Inheritance

Solution:

For the given sequence of nucleotides on a gene. mRNA formed against it and the sequence of bases in the corresponding binding anticodons will be as follows.
Given sequence of nucleotides :
3'AAATGC GCGATA5'
(This strand has polarity 3' $\to$ 5', which acts as a template DNA)
After transcription the sequence of mRNA w ill be :
5' UUU ACG CGC UAU 3'
(Polarity is5' $\to$ 3',becauseDNA-dependentRNApolymerase catalyses the polymerisation in only one direction, i.e.,
5' $\to$ 3')
Anticodons:
3' AAA - UGC -GCG -AUA 5'
(It has bases complementary to the code on mRNA).
