Q. 1 : 2 : 1 phenotypic and genotypic ratio is found in case of

JIPMERJIPMER 2011Principles of Inheritance and Variation

Solution:

Blending inheritance is the expression in offspring of a phenotypic character intermediate between those of the parents, as pink flower colour in progeny of red and white flowered parental plants. Here, hybrids possess a distinct phenotype. So the phenotypic and genotypic ratio of blending inheritance is same. The term is also used to refer to a now discarded theory in which genetic material of the offspring is considered to be an actual blend of the genetic material of the parents i.e. in modern terms, alleles would blend together to form a completely different new allele.
