Genes located on the same chromosome and have a greater tendency to be inherited together are called tightly linked genes. The distance between these genes is very less and hence there is very little chance of crossing over. Thus they show very few recombinations. Loosely linked genes have a greater distance between them and hence there is a greater chance of crossing over. Thus they show many recombinations.
